DataOps came out of a specific frustration: data teams that build carefully, ship to production, and then find out from a customer that the numbers are wrong.
This course explains where that failure comes from and what to do about it. It starts with the problems the industry actually has, names the organizational complexity underneath them, then works through the three DataOps pipelines — production, development, and environment — and closes with a six-step implementation process you can start on Monday.
The 2023 update leads with Data Journeys: the idea that you cannot fix what you cannot see, so watching data move through production is the first move, not the last.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about the DataOps Fundamentals certification
What does the course cost?
Nothing. The course, the assessment, and the certificate are all free, and there is no trial that expires into a paid plan.
How long does it take?
The five modules run about two hours and twenty minutes in total, and the assessment is untimed. Most people finish in an afternoon. It is self-paced, so you can stop and come back.
What do I get at the end?
A DataOps Fundamentals Certification. Score 80% or higher on the assessment and you receive a certificate you can post on LinkedIn or add to your resume.
Do I need to know DataOps already?
No. The course starts from the problems that make data teams miserable and builds up from there. If you have run a data pipeline and watched it break, you have enough background.
Is this the same as the paid DataOps training workshop?
No. This course is free, self-paced, and taken alone. The one-day workshop is instructor-led for up to 15 people, built around your own pipelines and problems, and costs $2,000. Teams often do both: the course supplies the vocabulary, the workshop applies it to your work.
How does this differ from the Data Observability certification?
This one covers DataOps as a whole: the three pipelines, Data Journeys, and how to implement them. The Data Observability and Data Quality Testing certification goes deep on one part of that picture, with hands-on testing exercises. Start here if DataOps is new to you.
It's free, and it starts whenever you do.
About three hours, self-paced, and you keep the certificate.
